Users that are new to the Root dashboard will need to activate their accounts before they can log in.
Your Root account is linked to your email address. Once your administrator has created your user account, you will receive an email that contains your activation link.
If the email is not in your Inbox, please check your trash/spam folder too.
To start the activation, either:
- Click the Accept invite button in the email or,
- if you’ve received the link separately, copy and paste the URL into your web browser.
If you have not received an activation email, your email address might have been captured incorrectly. Please contact your administrator for assistance if you have not received an activation email.
Once you’ve clicked the link, you will be redirected to a web page to create your password.
The password should contain a minimum of ten characters and can be up to a maximum of one hundred and twenty eight characters long.
If your password has less than twenty characters it must contain at least 3 of the following characters:
- Upper case letters
- Lower case letters
- Digits and
- Special Characters
Every time you log in to the Root dashboard, you will need to authenticate your login. This is a security measure to protect your account. There are two ways in which this can be done:
- You can either use app-based authentication or,
- a One Time Pin, also known as an OTP, that you will receive via SMS to the cellphone number linked to your account.
App-based authentication is when an app is used to generate a code. This six digit code is used when you log in to the dashboard to authenticate your login.
We recommend using either Google Authenticator or Authy. Both apps can be downloaded onto your cellphone for free. Authy can also be used on your PC.
The biggest advantage of using this type of authentication is that it provides stronger protection against unauthorised access to your accounts than receiving your OTP via SMS would. Another advantage is that your authentication code is immediately available in the app. When you are receiving an OTP via SMS, you may be impacted by network delays, and this could prevent you from accessing the dashboard.
To set up app-based authentication, scan the QR code that appears on screen with your authenticator app. You will need to have downloaded an authentication app before you can complete this step.
Once the QR code has been scanned, enter the authentication code from your app.
Every time that you log in to the Root dashboard, you will need to get your authentication code from your authenticator app.
If you would prefer to receive your OTP via SMS, click Skip this step to have your OTP SMSed to you. Every time that you log in, you will receive your OTP via SMS to gain access to the Root dashboard.
Once you have successfully logged in for the first time, you will see the Welcome to Root pop-up. This is where you will be able to Choose your journey by selecting either I want to build or I want to sell or manage. If you are an agent, click I want to sell or manage.
As soon as you have selected your journey, the following pop-up will provide some helpful links to our User Guides, FAQ's and Developer Hub. When you're ready to get started, click Got it.
